My First Week

I started my work on Monday, 16th Nov, as a temp executive. Though it is a temp work and I am paid per day, the whole week I was quite relaxed though there are times where I feel that I don't really know what I am doing. It's hard to do a job when you don't exactly know what you are supposed to do.

On Monday, I came to the office building to report and the person I was to report to forget that she was to meet me. I was like "WHAT?" I explain to her why I was there and she finally remembered. *sigh* She then brought me to my temp office and showed me my table. I sat there waiting for her to bring some documents for me to fill in. The office was so empty that morning. Apparently the others all took time off since they had to attend to some stuffs on Saturday. And so as I sat down and wait, I did absolutely nothing. After filling in the documents and all, I sat down doing absolutely nothing but simply watching the computer guy set up the computer and stuffs.

Then at about 11 am someone came in. I was introduced to her but she doesn't know anything so I had to wait for the 'boss' to come in which he did shortly after. I was told to do some reading for the time being to get to know what the department is suppose to be researching on and handling. After that the lady brought me out for lunch, it was her treat, and we had some talk. She learn more about me and I learn a bit about the organisation and the department. After lunch I sat in a meeting with the team. I didn't know much about it but tried to kept up. It was all a big blow to me. I felt like a fish out of the water. I simply listen without throwing any ideas since it was my first day and I don't think I should be doing anything. After the meeting, I was told to help with typing and I did. I simply follow the instructions given without any objections. Really felt like a robot and since it has been a while since I last type, my typing skills drop. Hee hee. I type really slow that day. And because the team are really rushing the typing, I had to stay back an hour to help them finish up the presentation slides for the next day. *sigh* First day and I had to do OT. Oh well...

Let me introduce the team before ranting on the rest of the week. The team is made up of the first lady I met, Mrs H, the 'boss' Mr R and two others, Mr S and Ms S.

Tuesday came and I came in earlier than the others. Oh well. Sat at my computer and used the internet to check my mail, my livejournal and stuffs. Hee hee. No one was there give me instructions. Then while waiting for more instructions I sat down and read the handbook and did some notes for myself. Then Mrs H told me to help her with some calling. I had to call up hotels to check their price quotes for a special event coming up next month. Now that felt like what I did in 2006-2007. So not much problem there. Then I was brought to walk around the building. I was introduced to a lot of people. I can't remeber who they are now honestly. Hee hee. But I did meet my old school mate. We were in the same JC and Uni but we weren't that close.

Then I went for lunch with Mrs H. And after that we went back to the office and I continue looking for hotels. In the afternoon they had a meeting, I was suppposed to follow but I was asked to take over Ms S post in the hall. She was supposed to help out with some event in the hall but since she is an important person in the team, she couldn't afford to miss the meeting. And so since I am a temp without anything permanent to do, I was sent down instead. The horror... I didn't know a thing about the event in the hall. I was so lost as what to do. Ms S said she will help to ensure I get an easy job but I end up doing this and that. So much for doing an easy task. After that I don't have much to do so I was able to go home at 6 pm. I made the wrong decision to take the bus home. The TPE was conjested so I end up getting home late. *SAD*

The third day, Wednesday, Mrs H and Mr S was on duty in the hall so there was no one else in the office. But Mrs H came in and asked me to do some sorting and typing and so I did it. After some time, Ms S came but she was on the other side of the room and since I had some time on hand, I did some surfing and started off my JunDa fic. It's not complete but I get down to writing it today. Will have to put it up soon. I also have to write my sequel JunDa fic. Haven't gotten down to writing it yet. *sigh* Then when Mrs H and Mr S came back we all went for lunch together. We all took Mrs H's car and went somewhere further away. I didn't really eat much, I had dessert only. Then after that we went back to the office.

Once we reached the office, Mr R told me to get some articles from the other department and start doing some research and asking me to find articles that can be used for their project. And so I went up and got it and the files are still on my table. I stayed an hour later to do the research but the next day I came in an hour later. *Tired*

Thursday was a day where I had to continue my research. I really took my time doing it. My eyes were really tired looking at the articles. My brain stopped working after a while too. Totally couldn't concentrate at all. Then went out for lunch with Mrs H, Mr S and another guy, Mr N. We took a cab to somewhere further down from where we are. I ate yong tau fu at banquet. It's been a while since I had that. Then because of the rain, we took a lift from someone from the same office. We actually wanted to take the taxi but after looking at the long queue, we decide to take a lift from them instead. Got back and continued my research. Then went off at 6 pm. I didn't want to stay any longer. But before I went off Mr R told me what he wanted and I started doing a bit of it at home.

On Friday, I came in and started typing as fast as I could for Mr R but since there were quite a list, I totally couldn't finish it by the time he got to the office. I continued with it until evening. We ordered Mac for lunch but the delivery took quite some time to reach. I was so hungry by then. I am really bad with empty stomach. I was about to vomit and all. Then I met the 'OEC' for the first time. I couldn't do anything for that whole time the 'OEC' was there. Then after 'OEC' left I got a bit more things done and soon it was time to leave but not before listening to Mr R talk about things that I learn before. Testing my brain. ^_^

On my way back I had a little slip and fall. But somehow I fell with a little grace. It looked like a dance slide, you know the one where dances slide to the front of the stage when they are near the end of the song. It totally looked like that and I even had some older ladies give some sound effects. It was embarrassing but I guess no one really cared much about it. *Damn slippery floors and no friction heels*

That night I finished up my work and email Mr R the finished product. I will have to cooperate with Ms S on Monday for the next step in the research. But that I will only think about it tomorrow in the office. Hee hee.

I am so glad for weekends. I get to relax a bit. Yeah. Till next week.
