With that said we all went off together to explore the place. We first went down to the beach snack bar. The snack bar is not open. There is a sign hanging saying that it will officially be open tomorrow. That’s when we will be working here. The bar isn’t that big, just the size of our classroom so I guess there isn’t much customer to serve in the bar itself but more to take- away. Looking at the menu, it is meant to be that way.
Akira: Guess the snack bar job is more to people who can stand the summer heat and who can interact well with people and maybe can handle all the demands no matter how absurd it may be.
Mikomi: It’s not only that. Assuming the crowd that will be coming is a huge one. Demands have to be handled quick and swift. There will be a lot of physical challenge in getting orders ready. But it will not really be a problem since according to the menu, all orders are really easy to make.
Akira: You can tell all that by just analyzing the situation?
Mahou: Oh she’s always been like that. She is one of the better students in math and science. Her analytical skill is tip-top and her customer service is the best in the library.
Akira: Customer service for library?
Suzu: It’s obvious that you have not been to the library lately. If you have then you will know that in the library there are all kinds of people needing help.
Mahou: And since Mikomi knows the library like the back of her hand she is the best girl to ask for help concerning library materials.
Akira: Wow. But isn’t our school library only so small?
Satsuki: It’s obvious he hasn’t been in there.
Tsumetashi: Akira, the library is not that small. It just got upgraded and it expanded to two stories now. There are now more reference books for us to refer to for our research.
Akira: Oh I didn’t know that.
Everyone laughs at Akira who turns red in embarrassment. They next move on to the fish pond nearby. They are amazed at the large pond size and can only wonder what lies below the pond. The care taker of the pond approached them.
Goro: Oh you kids must be summer helpers who will start working tomorrow.
Satsuki: Yeah we are. We are just looking around to see the environment.
Goro: Oh take you time then. I need to get the fishes ready for lunch. The fishes need to be fresh for the customers. Tomorrow I assume one of you will be given the task to come down here and get the fishes for lunch and for dinner separately?
Ryu: Yeah I guess so.
Goro: Well then excuse me while I get the fishes ready for collection.
Ryu: This job won’t be hard but I guess the journey will be. It’s a guys job anyway.
Akira: Are you saying that you are willing to take the job?
Ryu: Huh?
Satsuki: Okay, Ryu is on the job for collection of fish. Let’s go.
Ryu: Wait I never said I will do it.
Tsumetashi: Too bad Ryu, you just did.
Everyone move on to their next destination, the farm. There the care taker gave them a sample of the fresh tomatoes available in the farm.
Suzu: I have always loved tomatoes. These are great.
Mikomi: I agree.
Ryu: Do someone have to come down to get the vegetables for the meals?
Riku: Oh no. That will be too strenuous. We send the vegetables up by van straight to the kitchen door. By the way we don’t send it everyday; we send it up twice a week.
Ryu: Oh.
Riku: I think the only thing that needs fetching every time is the fishes since they need to be fresh from the pond to taste delicious. Other than that, the other stuffs will be send up to the resort kitchen by van twice a week. Same goes for things we order from the market. So you guys don’t need to worry about making the trips. Ishizu scared you with that right?
Suteki: How did you know?
Riku: She does that to all the rest that came in for the vacations. She’s always like that but she meant no harm. It was a friendly joke. You being her cousin should know her well.
Suteki: I guess you’re right but I didn’t think that she would joke about a job that needs to be done.
Riku: She can be quite a joker.
Satsuki: Well I guess we better move on. Thank you Riku-san for the tomatoes.
Riku: No problem. Just come visit me again when you have the time. It’s really refreshing talking to young people. It’s so boring with just the same old people.
Suteki: When we have time we will.
The group moved on to the other destinations. The kitchen is so busy they couldn’t really get in and find out more info about the duties. After lunch they venture out to the nature walk. They also brought a snack they grab from the kitchen after their lunch. They are planning to stop by the waterfall and have a chat and a tea party. Along the trail, they didn’t converse much.
