Part Two

Mikomi walks on towards the library. The library is usually very empty with only a few students in it. Mikomi took her place at the counter. She looks around the library and seeing nothing out of the ordinary, she picks up a book that was on the counter and starts reading. But not long after that a smash was heard. Being the only librarian on duty, Mikomi places the book she was reading on the table and stood up. Facing everyone in the library which wasn’t a lot, she bows in apology and went to check the reason for the sound. Near the back of the library, pieces of glass are lying around. She went nearer and saw a baseball on the floor. Looking out the window, she saw the baseball team looking upwards in her direction. She bends down and picks up the ball. Mikomi sighs.

Mikomi: Well there goes one window. I need to report this and I need one of the players to verify the incident too. What a troublesome job.

Just then someone taps Mikomi’s shoulder. She turns and was face to face with the baseball vice captain, Makoto Kunimisawa. He’s a third year class four student.

Makoto: Ah. I’m sorry about the mess. Are you a librarian on duty?

Mikomi: Yes. Here’s your ball, Kunimisawa-senpai. (hold out the baseball)

Makoto: (took the ball) Ah thanks. I over heard that you need someone from the club to verify the incident. I can do that. I’m the vice captain and the one who made the ball come this way so I’m responsible.

Mikomi: Thank you. I would tell the teacher-in-charge of the library after my duty ends.

Makoto: I see. What time will it be? Six?

Mikomi: Five actually.

Makoto: Alright then five. I will meet you back here and follow to the teacher’s office to report the incident. And don’t you worry, I always keep my word. I will be here later.

Mikomi: Thank you very much Kunimisawa-senpai.

Makoto left and Mikomi got down to cleaning the pieces of glass.

That wasn’t the first time a window of the library got smashed by a ball from the baseball club. Thus this isn’t the first time I’ve met Kunimisawa-senpai either. But it seems I don’t leave much impression since no matter how many times we met, he won’t remember me the next time around. In fact this kind of things happens all the time with other people too. In fact there are some people in my own class that don’t know that I’m actually in their class. That’s how my reputation is. But I’m not bothered by that.
